How to Install Nest Thermostat?
Firstly, we all know what a thermostat is and what it is used for but what is a Nest thermostat and what makes it any different from our regular thermostat?
Well! Let me introduce you to the next big thing in the 21st century. Nest thermostat is the third generation of its kind. Apart from it fancy looks, HD displays, it works on your preferences and allows you to save energy which is much needed on our planet today. Save energy!
In a world where everything is ‘SMART’ let us all welcome the smart thermostat.
How to install Nest thermostat? This step by step guide can help you out.
Step 1 Power off
The very first step is to switch off the thermostat before you install the Nest thermostat from your circuit box. This will save us from any misshapes that may happen and it’s always better to be cautious when handling electrical devices.
Step 2 Remove your old thermostat
Get hold of a screwdriver in this step because you will be removing your old thermostat from the wall until you see a bunch of wires hanging out from the wall. Take off the face of the thermostat first.
Step 3 ‘Blue’ your wires
Each wire is connected to a specific port in your thermostat. Label each wire with blue stickers that have come with your Nest thermostat installation guide to the corresponding wire. This would make it easy for you to connect the wires in the Nest thermostat later on.
Step 4 Remove the base cover of the old thermostat
After you have labeled your wires, you need to carefully take out the base cover of the thermostat off the wall completely until you see only the wires sticking out of your wall.
Step 5 ‘Smart’ Thermostat marks its territory
You need to place the Nest base plate carefully making sure all the wires are out the hole as you mark the screws of how you would like your Nest thermostat to be placed. There is a bubble level on the base plate which can help you make sure that the plate is level. Screw the base plate and fix it on your wall.
Step 6 Time to ‘Play’ with wires
When I say ‘play’ I don’t mean it literary. This is the part where the stickers do their job and we don’t need to use our brains. As you have already labeled the wires, each wire will be connected to its corresponding hole. Each wire in the thermostat will snap into place.
Step 7 Attach the display plate
This step is where you fix the front face of the Nest thermostat. Push the face of the thermostat onto the base plate; hopefully, it will attach itself to the base. It will. Sounds easy enough
Step 8 Showtime
This is the part where you switch on the thermostat from the circuit box and this should power up your Nest thermostat. These are the few steps that will allow you to install Nest thermostat.
